Quilting
I've always loved quilts, but never had the knowledge - or courage - to make my own quilts. Enter my sister, Karen. She had caught the bug and on a visit we decided to try to make a Quilt in a Day log cabin quilt for my bed. I was skeptical, but we did it!
It would be a long time before I would try again - work, family, life - all made it a 'to do' when I have time.
Enter a good friend, Laurie, who was a expert and prolific quilter, who took me under her wing and got me hooked. She recommended joining her at a class - Tessellating Leaves - at a local Temecula quilt store - and there you go. Of course, if you know what tessellating means - it means 'challenging' - hardly a beginner class. I did the first couple rows and was going to give up. Laurie came over and showed me how to organize and 'just do it'. I was so proud! To ensure I didn't totally give up, we did a Chinese Coin quilt with Laurel Burch fabric and was hooked. (thanks Laurie!)
As I've gained confidence, I've made lots of 'Coin' quilts, and ventured out to new patterns. With all of the great pre-cut fabrics now - Charms, Layer Cakes, Jelly Rolls (food oriented - who can resist?) - so continue to find new ways to purchase and make fun new quilts.
